It would bring in about £700million/year which would be more than enough for most true public service programming.
Maybe the government could top it up to £1billion/year which should not be a problem when you consider all the money banks have been getting.
News/current affairs/documentary/childrens/radios1/2/3/4/5 is what the BBC could be doing very well and let commercial channels do all the tatty game shows/soaps/dancing soap stars and the like.
