A Third of all iPlayer Programs are watched on VM-OD Virgin Media TV On Demand

Yea, and thats only because there is sh*t all on that Catch-Up service, APART from BBC Programs.

Honestly, if they updated the thing with regular content from their own channels, like Bravo and Living, as much as the iPlayer is updated, it would be much better.

Of course, this IS Virgin Media. We sort of expect this sort of thing to happen.

Its like the whole Catch Up OD service relies on the iPlayer now. Without it, you would have 10 Programs a week on there! And even then, I dont think that VM are the people that do all the BBC stuff. I believe that is done by some people at the Beeb, so thats even more of a lazy reputation that VM get.

All the good deals seem to insist on telephone?? Cable

Sunday, August 9th, 2009

Used to have VIP Virgin on a deal (very cheap) and when that came to an end they could offer me very little and it worked out cheaper to have Sky HD, BT phone, and Cable Broadband (not cheaper on the broadband but BT Broadband (and similar BT based services) can only offer me 256k speed as I’m miles from the exchange) so that’s what I went to.

I had Sky HD before anyway for the HD content hence the cheapest option.

My problem now is trees and whether the Sky engineer who is coming soon can restore the signal I lost last week as it’s now unwatchable.

If he cant, I would have to live with Freeview which at the moment I’m having to use but is pretty limited, although I can use the Sky Player through the internet of course, or go back to cable for TV.

The problem is I’m in a contract with BT until March (well they say May as it took them three months to port my number and they are saying the contract started again from then but that’s another story!)

So all I need is Broadband and TV, but all the deals seem to insist on telephone; in fact they keep calling me presumably to try and get me to take TV but as soon as I mention that I have a contract with BT they’re off the phone like a shot.

Are there no deals that anyone knows of that are not advertised for TV and Broadband only with Virgin?

The only one on the website actually seems cheaper WITH a phone line!!

I really dont want two telephone lines, it seems silly.

Anyone know?

When are all Customer Retention deals going to be over? Cable

Sunday, August 9th, 2009

When are all VM Customer Retentions no longer going to be able to offer special deals or discounts?

Also will customers already on “lifetime” Customer Retention deals be able to keep them?

I think it is plain nasty that Virgin CS are not allowed to reduce a customer from one bundle down to a lower priced bundle. Will this end up being the only role of Customer Retentions – to move customers to lower priced bundles (ones available to all new customers and shown on the VM website).

Thanks for any answers.

All I want is a STB/Adaptor with S-Video Out !! Freeview

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

This is the only thing preventing me in purchasing a freeview stb/adaptor.

It HAS to have S-video out, but there aren’t any. WHY?

Not just for SVHS owners but as a second option to RGB, which is usually taken up on the TV by the DVD player.

I know the Pace adaptor does but it’s no good to me as I don’t want to split the incoming aeriel signal and I need two scarts, one to go to the SVHS vcr and the other to the TV.

I’ve had a look at all the current range (I think) and although most have two scarts and aeriel loopthrough, NONE have S-video out through the SCART.

Anybody know any different?

Using “One for All 4 Digital” with Pace DTVA Freeview

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

hey!

I know simmilar topics have cropped up in the past, but i can’t seem to ge tthe search tool to cooperate.

I have jusy bought the ‘One For All 4 Digital’ universal remote control thingy with a view to using it with my tv, vcr and Pace DTVA. The thing is, there’s no specific code for this device in the booklet. I have tried the ‘OnDigital’ codes, and the ‘Pace’ codes for both ‘Sat’ and ‘Cbl’ boxes with no avail.

Before I set to using the ’search’ funcion on the remote, i wondered if anyone had expierence with this…. the helpline’s closed now.

Thanks, Z

16QAM not all it’s cracked up to be? Freeview

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

I’m watching BBC4 now to have a look at what difference 16QAM makes.

The 16QAM version of BBC4 is UNWATCHABLE on my box. Terrible break-ups (even worse than mux A, and that’s saying something!)

The 64QAM version on 802 is perfect though.

i hope this clears up.

I have lost all the test channels Freeview

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

I have a pace DVTV (?) and yesterday had some of the test channels (5 Live, 5 Extra 701 ect) but today they have all gone. Did a store channels and now only have 14 channels any ideas? I am on the Lark Stoke Transmitter.

All change…. Freeview

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

Ok, simpleton here again.
For the last few days i’ve had ITV1/2, C4, C5 , QVC and TV Travel fine plus interactive services and nothing else. Last night during Champions League footy everything went unwatchable.
I rescanned and suddenly got 19 channels, basically all the BBC stuff again plus 100 to 105(?), 701 and 702 and the above but all unwatchable. After an hour i retuned again (fun this innit?) i am back at square one with the BBC channels tuned in but no signal. QVC and Travel shop have disapeared.
Im on Emley Moor transmitter, i think, in north nottinghamshire.
What does this tell us?
