Does anyone think this is a valid business idea for VM? Virgin Media TV On Demand

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

In VM area’s why don’t they also provide a standalone VoD service for people who want just a VoD service if they have Sky HD for example like we do?

This way, VM get into Sky homes and enable their presence before Sky get’s their own service up and running? It would also allow them to market more efficiently their TV/Broadband services and other services as they come along into our household and although we’d be using two separate boxes we could handle the switching back n forth.

It’s certainly something we’d be interested in if the price was right – £10 p/month for example – let’s face it the content is there and it’s doing nothing in our household so why not allow us access to this service on it’s own and do one over Sky? It would be a WIN WIN situation for VM as by the time Sky’s service arrives they should have a bigger library and be making £10 extra every month per household that takes the service.

Does anyone else mute on-demand listings? Virgin Media TV On Demand

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

Hi there.

Was wondering if anyone else mutes the television when going though the listings on ALL on-demand menus.

I find it loud and annoying especially when in the music on demand section where you have your favourite song on loud and when it ends blairs to some crap song their advertising in the corner of the screen.

It just gets on my tits!

Quick warning for anyone which signed on recently to Virgin Cable

Sunday, August 9th, 2009

Hi all

Just a quick warning about my first Virgin bill which I have just got. I signed on over the internet to their XL package and on the website the mentioned a 50 pound discount for signing on line.. All good
Bill arrives and the special one off discount is shown as +50 rather than -50, so I have been overcharged. My bill is 249 quid (includes 2 months)
I call the 150 number, and after a small discussion she says “OK I will take off the 50 the bill is now 199″ erm.. no hang on a moment… 249 – 50 overcharged then another – 50 for the original discount I should have got = 149..
ANyway, after trying to convince the woman I got the correct bill.. Whether that is what I will be charged by DD or not we shall have to wait and see..
The most annoying thing is that I got the impression she was trying to fob me off with the taking off of the 50 rather than 100, so thought I would give you all a warning to check your bill!!

Anyone else having trouble V+ing Coronation St omnibus? Cable

Sunday, August 9th, 2009

I started a thread on this last night which seems to have disappeared (might have something to do with the title making no sense – I was tired )

Anyway, I’m having a recurring problem with recording the Corrie omnibus. On 3 successive occasions V+ has recorded a tiny amount (less than 30 mins) of what should be a 2.5 hr programme. No problems with other programmes. Is it me, VM or ITV2?

Can anyone explain? Freeview

Hi,
I’ve just got my first digital terrestial box (Grundig 1500), everything works perfectly except 3 channels are missing, Sky News, Sky Sports News and UK History. I’ve gone through the set up a few times but it never finds these channels.
I’m new to dtv so if anyone can explain why i can’t get these channels i’d be very grateful. By the way i’m in edinburgh if thats any help.

thanks in advance
