Why are Virgin so slow in adding to its HDVOD selection Virgin Media TV On Demand

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

I can’t remember the last time a new series was added in the high definition VOD section or in the more on demand section.

For a company that is allegedly concentrating on supplying VOD rather thatn linear HD channels, you would think that the library would me updated at least weekly.

Virgin will never catch Sky where HD linear channels are concerned, so why not hit them were it hurts and beef up the HDVOD section.

Are you in GU postcode area? Virgin Media TV On Demand

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

Recently the bbc Iplayer introduced a series catch up feature on the menu. When selected i get no content at all nor does a neighbour and nor did the engineer to visited to see the problem (he called his office and got someone to check in guildford) .

Anyone got this problem? If you do it might be good to report it on 151 as they seem to think that me. my neighbour and thier local guildford office are the only ones who have the problem. Extra complaints (genuine of course!) may help them focus on resolving the issue.

A Third of all iPlayer Programs are watched on VM-OD Virgin Media TV On Demand

Yea, and thats only because there is sh*t all on that Catch-Up service, APART from BBC Programs.

Honestly, if they updated the thing with regular content from their own channels, like Bravo and Living, as much as the iPlayer is updated, it would be much better.

Of course, this IS Virgin Media. We sort of expect this sort of thing to happen.

Its like the whole Catch Up OD service relies on the iPlayer now. Without it, you would have 10 Programs a week on there! And even then, I dont think that VM are the people that do all the BBC stuff. I believe that is done by some people at the Beeb, so thats even more of a lazy reputation that VM get.

After seeing the previews for sky player on the xbox 360, I have to conclude that virgin need to pull something pretty spectacular out of their hats in order to compete with them in terms of a VOD service sky previously never had.

When are all Customer Retention deals going to be over? Cable

Sunday, August 9th, 2009

When are all VM Customer Retentions no longer going to be able to offer special deals or discounts?

Also will customers already on “lifetime” Customer Retention deals be able to keep them?

I think it is plain nasty that Virgin CS are not allowed to reduce a customer from one bundle down to a lower priced bundle. Will this end up being the only role of Customer Retentions – to move customers to lower priced bundles (ones available to all new customers and shown on the VM website).

Thanks for any answers.

What are CrownCastle waiting for? Freeview

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

Before the launch of Freeview, press reports stated that Turnerwill launch 3 channels on Freeview; CNN, TCM and Boomerang.

As everyone knows they are not there! However I do know that Crown Castle are in negotiations with Turner, but does anybody know when Crown Castle are going to decide who the contract is awarded to?

I have emailed CrownCastle 5 times with no reply.

Another question being; How were Turner going to operate 3 channels with only 1 space left on the 16QAM multiplexes?
