FilmFlex has over 500 films at my fingertips Virgin Media TV On Demand

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

I tried looking for another thread having a moan about this, but I couldn’t find one. Apologies if I’ve been blind and missed it!

I’d just like to announce my remote flinging frustration at the TV on demand service late at night, with that FilmFlex advert running constantly. It wouldn’t be so bad, but it’s barely 20 seconds long!

“FilmFlex has over 500 films at your fingertips” … “or stay up late watching a thriller” … “FilmFlex. 500 films at your fingertips” … *cycles* “FilmFlex has over 500 films at your fingertips”

*throws remote control at screen*

It’s extremely annoying to hear this constantly when trying to sift through the endless amounts of ridiculously named CBBC/CBeebies content for something good to watch.

Is this a common thing? Or is there just something wrong with my box? (oo-er). I’d be surprised if everyone has to suffer through this. I mean, I’d have expected a lot more On Demand related fatalities by now.

Interesting ‘at-home-test’ with ariels Freeview

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

Ok, just did me a quick test to work out how well my Dec-2k software tracks changes in signal strength and quality; basically trying to optomise my rooftop ariel position.

Well, unplugged my wall socket ariel cable, and plugged a metal coathanger into it.

Guess what…with proper orientation got perfect reception as regards quality and level, and no breakup of TV image!

I am 4 floors up and about 20 miles from Blackhill, and having just installed a high-gain group E Yagi aerial, beginning to wonder if it was a worthwhile investment!

Anyway, guessing for those of you looking at using indoor aerials, if you got the reception, it should work!

I will ignore the first letter (or at the very least take my time to reply) and then write to them as follows : -

“I am in receipt of your letter dated ??? and note all that you write. I would be pleased if you would forward me a copy of MY original signed Agreement to allow me to consider my position, following which I will be able to properly respond to your letter”

Now either : -

1 – they have everyone’s signed Agreements carefully filed or scanned and to hand (unlikely)
2 – they are in a state of disarray and do not have all the Agreements
3 – they have not kept or are unable to access the Agreements

It is a reasonable thing to request . . I do not have my original Agreement. If I refer the matter to my Lawyer it will be the first thing he wants to see.

A mass mail-shot to everyone on there list is costing them f**k-all. Its a different matter if they have to find Agreements in a pile of 1.1 million, and then copy and mail them individually upon request. It will cost too much . . . iIt wont happen . . . the boxes are ours!

At 17:00 (5pm) hrs today Freeview

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

Was watching Allies at war, at 4pm today on the UKHistory channel, when it finished at 5pm, the channel just went off and starting mixing in with Sky News, with a mosaic effect.

I then went directed to the sky news channel, and it was black screen.

I then flicked through the channels, and all the rest were on except for BBC 3/Choice (stayed there for 2mins, no mheg screen).

I were wondering if BBC 3, Sky News & UK History are on the same mux. If so, did it happen to someone else.

After 15 mins 5:15, they were all back on. There is no problem with my signal, as i recieve all channels, and all are back to normal.

On nokia mediamaster & Winter Hill.

Thanks, for any info.
