Hi
I am connecting my Pioneer exITVd STB to my WinTV USB tv tuner on my computer using the RF out from the box to the tuner and then it goes on the USB bus.
Because that TV tuner doesn’t support stereo audio output, I bought a 2-phono to Stereo minijack cable and connected it from the 2 phono outs of the box directly to the line in of my SoundBlaster Live, this would give me stereo audio.
And stereo it gives me, just very at a very low volume output. If I set to max both the master volume and line in volume controls on my PC then the sound volume is still quite low. If I try and play an MP3 etc. on my PC at the same time then the MP3 comes out at max volume, but the line in still stays very quiet.
I tried hooking up my MP3 player to the line in and the volume level seems fine, and it also seems fine if I use the audio out on the WinTV USB to the line in of the sound card (the audio comes from the RF cable that is plugged into the tuner), but I only get mono sound. Sound also seems fine if I hook to the box up via. SCART to an actual TV.
I’ve tried up-ping the volume to max in the ITV Digital box settings menu but not much different. All the cables are definately plugged in as far as they’ll go.
Have I got a dodgy cable (it looks okay to me) or is my box not outputting audio at the corect level or something, because my sound card is definately working.
Thanks a lot,
Jonathan.
Could anyone tell me which (if any) of the FTA boxes available are equiped with AUDIO sockets for feeding sound to a hi-fi amp and speakers?
I remember all the ex-ITV digital ones have such sockets, but the specs are a bit vague on the new ones. As a last resort, I know I can take the audio off a scart socket, but would prefer not to if possible.
Thanks for any info. – Chris.
Is there some kind of copy protection on the audio, coz I linked up the box to my Line IN on my PC and the left channel drops out every now and again.
This means the NOKIA will have an optical or analogue digital audio out jack like the SONY Sky boxes doesnt it?
DTT is being promoted as having better sound and picture quality than analogue TV.
Is this strictly true for the sound?
On analogue TV, the NICAM sound is digital and in stereo.
On DTT, the sound is digital and in stereo.
Using line-out sockets from both, to good amp and speakers, I can’t tell any difference between the two sources.
Could anyone in the know, please tell us if there is any difference in the two transmission systems regarding the audio, that makes either one better than the other.
Cheers,
Broadwood.
if BBC parliament is available audio only, why cant the bbc transmit the 6/7 national radio stations.
for those with a pace dvta a example being bbc parliament with the radio 5×5 screen.
surely they can put a software fix to put a DAB receiver in.
Never noticed this until I recently altered my setup at home, but my Nokia ITV box has a digital audio connection – since I’ve binned the instruction manual, I was wondering if anybody could tell me how to make use of this connection – and does it do anything at all worth while with the ITV Digital services?
Just noticed when looking through the TV listings that the repeat of coronation street on itv2 had an audio description track included, which can be accessed by changing the settings in the menu to gaelic as the language. it just seems weird that they have it set so you cant easily access the program soundtrack and audio description at the same time, is there any reason why they’ve chosen to make it so difficult to recieve this service?
I find that when I switch my box to gaelic and change to a channel that the video sometimes doesn’t appear. It’s not like when you change channels too quickly – It just doesn’t appear at all. I find that i have to change the channel up or down (sometimes a few times) before I am able to see the video. It seems to happen mainly on the ONdigital channels.
