WHY DOES`NT SKY TV BUY ON DIGITAL AND PUT ALL THEIR CHANNELS ON, IT SHOULD`NT COST MUCH TO BUY THAT LOT OF CR*P.
Just a piece that may interest the Techie Types, caught it over on another site here’s the link

(i wonder what tiscali would cost these days, its been selling its operations in other countries)
sky offering phone & broadband, like wannado & aol does etc would be one thing, but it would also mean they can move ahead with that vod service they want to offer with far less problems.
is this the move that will mean sky has little less than ntl, but far more in everyday services (eg number of channels and sky+ etc)
ntls advantage looks like they will be too late in getting it working to attract sky users who can nearly do it all via sky and have other stuff ntl doesnt.
NTL, the UK’s largest cable operator, has acquired Viatel UK for GB £15 million, the deal looks like a bargain compared to the US $125 million Viatel paid AT&T for the company in March 2000.
At that time the unit, subsequently given the name Viatel Global Communications, claimed between 12,000 and 15,000 business customers.
NTL say that the acquisition enhances its managed voice and virtual ISP (V-ISP) capabilities, catapaulting the cable company to the forefront of the UK’s V-ISP sector.
NTL has stressed that none of the unit’s 200 staff in London and Redditch will be laid off, and that staff made redundant earlier in the year may even be re-employed as various dormant business lines are resurrected. In total, NTL has invested USD14 billion in its UK network and has around 3.22 million customers.
The BBC have pulled out of the Grand National due to all the cost cutting that they have been having to do and this Saturday’s event will be their last, Channel 4 have won the rights for the next five years starting from 2009.
