14:9 adverts on C5 Freeview

They are. Sure they weren’t yesterday. Is this a policy to move away from WS, or is it just a mistake? Probably the latter.

C5 Mux Freeview

Until recently I could receive all the channels perfectly, but recently the channels on the same mux as c5 are awful and unwatchable. Im on the Winter Hill transmitter and was wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem.

C5 still C5 on DTT Freeview

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

Channel 5 hasn’t been changed to five on DTT EPG yet.
Anyone know why it hasn’t changed or when it will?

A while back I heard a mention that DTT boxes weren’t autoupdateable, unlike the SKY boxes which did everything they had to without prompt, however I also since then heard that ONdigital boxes were now autoupdatable (but only a bit, i.e. software still has to be done manually)

Anyone know what exactly the ONAutoUpdate does?
Also, when did OnDigital stop using the “PostBox” feature?

SHOCK!! C5 actually show a film in widescreen Freeview

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

Admittedly I haven’t had DTT for that long, but C5 showed the first film in widesceen that I’ve seen on the channel – Dying Young. Every other film I’ve seen has been shown in 4:3. Why is this? Is it cheaper? Or have I just missed the ones they’ve shown in widescreen?

now he’s allowed, will Murdoch buy C5? TV Programmes

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

Well the government has just annouced that Murdoch will no longer be barred from buying the likes of C5 (still not allowed an ITV company though), it will be interesting to hear what Murdoch has to say following the annoucement. I wonder how he would change C5 or if he’sactually interested? Given that Sky are exclusive UK rights to shows like Buffy, Angel .. he could theoretically give C5 the first option on such shows and adding the likes of Buffy, Angel etc would certainly beef up their content.

Open Signing on C4 and C5 Freeview

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

Why does C4 and C5 use open signing (The little man in corner of your screen for the benifit of the deaf) via Ondigital but not on analogue. What’s good for one should be good for the other. This will just turn people off going digital.

C5 Widesceen programmes Freeview

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

Just flicking through the channels (honest) and noticed that channel five is showing a programme in a w/s format (wider than 16:9 as well). Well done C5 if only it was something that would be improved by being in w/s , a film maybe??
