What happened to the debate about E4 on freeview? Some cleaver bod at DS decided that you can’t search on less than three chars at a time!

Why can’t C4/E4 use the advertising revenue to pay for the channel or am I being slow in thinking this is a lot of money.

Surely if they think about doing the same as BBC, where I have heard that they are thinking of showing programmes on BBC Choice (three), first this will get the people and the advertisers interested?

Is there any way to get the 4active on freeview digital?

What i mean is, on Sky, when you press the red button on C4, it takes you to 4active, but not on freeview.

Do I need to update my box (nokia Mediamaster 9850T), or is it just not available?

Has channel 14 got anything to do with it?

Can someone tell me what the differance is between E4 and the new C4 Xtra Channel, e4 shows mostly shows from 4 anyway?

Can anyone confirm if they at present can receive the channels on MUX 2 ( ITV et al ) and that they are in the E4 , Chingford area.

Friend has box and was working until the weekend when it has lost all channels on MUX 2and also FIVE! ( Mux A )?

They have done STORE CHANNELS but just keeps finding all the usual suspects except ITV, ITV2 etc.

I was look at channel4 website and it looks like e4 is loog fta (channel 14)

Sorry to start a new thread, but it seems to me a newbie got a lot of ill informed and rude flax because he was a tad loose in his use of terminology and sources (see” E4 is comeing to freeview http://forum.digitalspy.co.uk/board/…threadid=40134“).

On 8 August 2002 the ITC invited comments on options for change in the transmission mode for digital terrestrial television (DTT).

On September 12 2002 Digital 3 & 4 replied in part “If Digital 3and4 and SDN were to continue to transmit at 64QAM on their multiplexes there is the prospect of sufficient capacity to sustain a “Pay-Lite” package as proposed by Freeview Plus in its recent application for Multiplex D. A mandatory imposition of 16QAM would preclude examination of a pay option and, in particular, it would mean that Film Four and E4 were no longer carried on DTT. These are two of the most successful digital channels and to remove the possibility for them to be made available to DTT viewers will be detrimental to the successful development of the platform.”

Playing around with my Nokia box tonight I noticed that E4 continues to broadcast subtitles to its programmes. I knew that this was the case just after it stopped making the channel available but its a bit strange that it is still doing this. Is it in fact transmitting the whole thing but making the pictures and sound unavailable? Either way, could its continued transmission at this stage be a sign that it may be coming back to our free to view screens soon? Although not the best of channels, the above-mentioned subtitles were for The Soprano’s and I wished I could watch it! E4 would be great compared with some of the anticipated output.
Oddly, the E4 subtitles do not appear on my Grundig GDT1500 box. I wonder if this is true for some other makes. I should add that it has nothing to do with an Ondigital card as I removed it from the slot ages ago.

This has probably been posted before – but is there any news on E4 coming onto FTA terrestrial?

Not wanting to get to excited about one little thing… but on my Pace DTVA there is currently programme guide information for E4. It says that now on is Big Brother Live, and a description, and the next on is similar (but the next 4 or so hours). Of course, E4 is just broadcasting its no longer available message.

There’s been no info on E4 for ages. although there was straight after it stopped broadcasting. Anyone any thoughts on this???
