VOD has arrived in Loughton Virgin Media TV On Demand

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

Sorry for starting a new thread on the subject, but people probably weren’t expecting to see this in the “no VOD in sight for Loughton” thread.

I can now confirm that the service has started working today and have been informed that it should now be working for all segments of the Waltham Forest Head End feeding the Woodford Green area.

Hats off to VM for several communications to me over the past few days. Apparently, the original plan for the Head End at Woodford Green would not have catered for 50 Mb Broadband and new cables have been laid to link from Waltham Forest, hence the delay.

FilmFlex has over 500 films at my fingertips Virgin Media TV On Demand

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

I tried looking for another thread having a moan about this, but I couldn’t find one. Apologies if I’ve been blind and missed it!

I’d just like to announce my remote flinging frustration at the TV on demand service late at night, with that FilmFlex advert running constantly. It wouldn’t be so bad, but it’s barely 20 seconds long!

“FilmFlex has over 500 films at your fingertips” … “or stay up late watching a thriller” … “FilmFlex. 500 films at your fingertips” … *cycles* “FilmFlex has over 500 films at your fingertips”

*throws remote control at screen*

It’s extremely annoying to hear this constantly when trying to sift through the endless amounts of ridiculously named CBBC/CBeebies content for something good to watch.

Is this a common thing? Or is there just something wrong with my box? (oo-er). I’d be surprised if everyone has to suffer through this. I mean, I’d have expected a lot more On Demand related fatalities by now.

BBC iPlayer on “On Demand” has launched Virgin Media TV On Demand

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

Hi,

Just noticed that after a few minutes (at least) of downtime to the on demand services, iPlayer programmes are now accessible from the catch-up menus.

It uses all the iPlayer streams, rather than the dual programs which we previously had from catch-up.

Virgin onscreen menu has come out on DVD recording!! Cable

Sunday, August 9th, 2009

Just recorded 8 hours of TV and the damn menu (the now/next menu) is on the recording!!
Is this a common problem and is there any way around it? Should i have set something to make it go off after Xseconds?
What a disapointment as the DVD recording is unwatchable.

How has this happened? Cable

We have a V+ box downstairs & a settop box up in the bedroom. Up until about 2 weeks ago we had Sky movies & sports but turned them both off to save a bit of money. Well this morning we found out we can watch sport & movies upstairs but downstairs we’re told we have not subscribed to these channels. Well my hubby is over the moon that we appear to be getting the sport for free, but is there a way of checking if we’re getting charged? I haven’t a clue how it’s happened but it is rather good….if it’s free

Channel Line-up Order has cahnged!! Freeview

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

I have a Panasonic TU-CT20 Digital Converter Box and have been using it ok for the last 3 weeks!!

Yesterday the box wanted me to run the check for new services option which I did, from that point on all of the channels have changed order………. i.e.

BBC1 was on channel 1, but is now on channel 15
BBC2 was on channel 2, but is now on channel 14

and so on…..

What has happened? has freeview changed the order of the channel lineup or is the Panasonic box broken?

Any sugguestions would be welcome.

Many Thanks

Has anyone rang Grant Thornton yet? Freeview

Just wondering if anyone has rang Grant Thornton? Was going to do it from work on Friday but didn’t have time.

Where has ITV 1 Gone??! Freeview

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

Got home from work today, when I switched to ITV (channel 3) I got the a couple of seconds of TV and then a blank screen, no sound and a Message saying “The ITV Text+ service is no longer available”

I didn’t even ask for TXT! If I press the TXT button I get another brief flash of TV and then the message again!!

I’ve tried turning the box off and on again but the same problem, all the other channels are OK.

What’s going on?

has somebody cocked up in ITV land?
