I got my new virgin media bill and i was not happy
as now virgin are now charging a paper bill with a £2.99 on top of the none direct debit. £5.00.

virgin think that the can have a team meeting and cume up
with ways to get more money from its custermas
virgin are out of order

all i have with tham is broadbard and home phone
and for tv its sky.

so whot have virgin got next to slap on to the bill.
do sky act same as virgin.

If they have all the names & addresses then they probably have all the Switch / Mastercard numbers that were used to pay for the service so if you dont return your box after say . . . 1 month they could just take the £39.99 as a ‘continuous authority’ payment?

Freeview – Worth the Money? Freeview

Even though this is a free service, I’m wondering if it is worth paying £90 for the digital adapter?

I am an ex-ITVD subscriber, and if I didn’t already have the box I don’t think I would get one now. I have a TiVO aslo, and I find that most of my recordings are coming from the regular terrestial channels and about 10 per cent from channels not available on analogue.

When DTT was a pay-tv service it was more like 60-40 in favour of the digital channels that gor recorded, mainly from channels like E4 and Sky 1.

What do others think? Has there been a high take-up rate of Freeview, in terms of digital adapters sold?

Let’s not forget that many people spent a lot of money just to get Channel 5 Freeview

There seems to be a lot of people concerned at how crap the DTT or “Freeview” lineup is/will be and that it’s hardly going to appeal to the great unwashed. I’ve noticed this in every other thread in this forum as well as in other forums and newsgroups people talk about such things. The thing about this though is almost everyone has DTT and/or satellite/cable. Whether they’re paying a fortune, a pittance or even nothing at all per month these people are used to having more channels than the 4 or 5 the other half of the population have.

So the DTT or “Freeview” line up IMHO isn’t all that bad and even if it only offers one channel that interests the great unwashed (and this wouldn’t neccessarly be the same channel for everyone) then that’s one extra channel they didn’t already have.

I think they’ll be plenty of people that will be prepared to pay a one off cost so that they can get one or two extra channels of interest to them. This is what happened when Channel 5 started and was the case with Channel 4 and with people living in overlap TV areas (albeit this was before the advent of “multichannel” TV).

I can’t think of one person that I know that wouldn’t want to watch any of the (digital only) channels on DTT. And I can think of many who have cable or satellite and would still benefit from having a DTT box in a bedroom/kitchen.

Let’s just hope that the problems that plague DTT reception will soon be a thing of the past for all of us as I don’t think the great unwashed will appreciate being told that they need a brand new rooftop aerial and downlead (that bypasses the wall plate and should ideally be soldered right to the box) just so they can have problem free digital TV.

ITV Digital Have Refunded Me Money Freeview

Checked my account today and there are two amounts credited to my account by ITV Digital. Looks like they are refunding customers.

I had a nice surprise today to find that my account had been credited with £2.80 from no other than ITV Digital. I wasn’t aware that i was owed any money from them (i dont remember to be honest) but i was wondering if anyone else had recieved anything similar.

I got my lovely in-the-red bank statement the other day and whilst going through it like I usually do, I found a Direct Debit paid to ITV Digital for £16.75.

I haven’t subscribed to them as I had a pre-paid box which ended on the day of the London Marathon. I never have subscribed to their magazine so I don’t owe them any money there.

I phoned them up and then to add insult to injury they said they can only give me the money back after they have come out of administration. I really do not agree to this at all. They even had the cheek to say to me that I had hung up on them when I was asking them to collect the box – they cut me off!

Has anyone had any sort of similar thing happen to them?

It is a real shame as every other time I have called ITV Digital CS they have been really helpful. This person (Helen I think) really didn’t sound as if she really wanted to be on the phone at all!

Looking at what I can now receive, it makes me wonder why I have ever paid ITVD £14 a month. The Sky Family Package looks very tempting now as it must do to thousands of others. Any new buyer is going to have an unenviable task, especially if the boxes are reclaimed and they have to start from scratch. If someone had took over before all the pay channels closed they might have stood a chance, and if the Government think that it’s analogue terrestrial close-down is on target they had better think again, very, very hard

Hi everyone – I need some advice. Has this happened to anyone else, and if so, what did you do to get out of it?

I subscribed to ONdigital in Dec 98 and stayed with them through until around May 2000. I then got Sky. To tempt me to stay, ONdigital asked me if I wanted to try all the channels for £1 per month for 3 months.

I said yes, cos me and my lady could watch digital tv in our bedroom, knowing full well I would cancel. Two months after accepting the offer, I wrote to cancel my agreement.

When I got ONdigital, the box was not free. I rented it from Granada (now Boxclever). I also rented a VCR from them, and when the boxes became free, I phone Granada and they said I could continue to keep the box and pay no rental for it, as long as I rented the VCR (which I still am doing).

I never heard anything more from it. My card still allowed me to view channels right up until Jan 2001. After cancelling the contract, I stopped the DD (given ONdigital’s well-reported mismanagement of accounts).

I live somewhere else now, and I got a letter this morning from Wescot Credit Services Limited, saying I owed ITV Digital £87.11. This is genuinely the first I have heard about it. They obviously have my new address and this is their first correspondence regarding the ‘debt’.

They have also included at the bottom of the demand, “To arrange collection of the equipment, property of ITV Digital, please telephone 0870 333 4144. If a positive response is not received, a charge of £200.00 will be added to your debt.”

Surely the box is Granada’s and not ITV Digital’s.

I would really appreciate your input on this. Thanks, Mark.
