I got a new Panasonic LZD800 and was looking forward to my one HD channel but couldn’t change to HDMI. It turned out that my old silver Telewest box had HDMI problems so they replaced it yesterday with a black V+ box.
On a side note I’ve spoken to three Virgin people on the phone and one Virgin engineer and by and large I’ve been pleased with the customer service.
My BBC HD looks lovely but I can’t access any on demand services. The chap I spoke to yesterday said that it was because it is a new box. Mind you he did say that it needed an overnight update and then a second later he suggested that I turned it off at the plug overnight. I pointed out the contradiction and he said that I’d better leave it on!
It’s still not working this morning. I’m at work now so there is no point phoning Virgin until I get home tonight.
Does anyone know how on demand works? Am I likely to need yet another box or is this really because it takes a while to get it working on a new box?
Any advice appreciated.

i do regularly check the ‘what’s new’ section of tv choice, but the amount of new HD stuff over the past few weeks has been very, very sparse.
i would assume that to licence the HD version of something as well as the SD version pushes the cost up, so maybe virgin aren’t willing to spend the money ?
it’s bit frustrating really and is slowly nudging me along the path that leads back to sky in april when my 12 months are up ..

Quote:
Dance duo Signature, who came second in the competition [Britain's Got Talent], have been offered a six-figure to deal to become the faces of Virgin Media.
Suleman Mirza, 29, and Madhu Singh, 34, would front Virgin’s forthcoming “Bollywood on Demand” TV service.
The money would enable the pair to give up their day jobs – Mirza is a trainee lawyer, while Singh works in the Heathrow branch of PC World.

The BBC are taking the proverbial. They’re “treating” us to a special, super-huge Christmas DOG, complete with baubles, advertising the iPlayer in the top-right hand corner on the BBC channels. It’s half the width of the screen, for Christ’s sake. (It does seem to stay onscreen for less time than usual before disappearing, though — small mercies, I suppose.)

Hi there
Im moving home soon, to a new development in Middlesbrough (Parkside Gardens).
Now when I was looking around some of the already built houses there were letters posted through the door from Virgin. Clearly theyre canvasing early lol. And also at one end of the development there is the Virgin green box. Plus cable is everywhere in Middlesbrough.
So my question is, when my house is built, do you reckon i can get Virgin ? Their postcode searcher says no when i enter the new post code, however i figure its just because they havnt updated their records and databases and what not.
What do you reckon…cos I cant have/wont have ADSL. Me wants 50mb.
My contract is due up in August too. Currently on XL x 3 for £55pm. Do we reckon if I can get service there, they could give me a good deal and move me ? ~Im not interested in TV anymore just 50MB, but anything to get it cheapy cheapy
Thanks alot

I currently have a checkpoint safe@office 500.

On calling virgin media they have told me that I will have to use, their own new router instead.
I would prefer to use the checkpoint as I feel it provides greater security. But will it limit the speed of throughput?

if you watch say itv and you nip out the room or watching sky sports and dont want to miss a goal while you nip out the room you would normally press pause on your v+ remote, you can then press play and watch from when you paused and also rewind back again to where you started pause from……tonight i had been watching tv and went to press pause but knocked rewind ….it now seems to rewind form when i put the channel on!!!!! no need to pause it .has it always been like this? it seems to work on all channels
