On Demand not working in an odd way. Virgin Media TV On Demand

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

Okay, weirdest thing.

I got it installed like a week ago, and everything was perfecto until yesterday. Then whenever I select an on demand program to watch, it like meshes with the on demand previews and has a horrid fuzzy noise. Like the previews are trying to play over the on demand. It is so weird.

It is the same for Music and TV, not tried the others.

Any suggestions?

Before I go I find this odd! Freeview

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

On Thursday I will be moving over to SkyD. I have already given my second ITVD box to my Nana and I am pleased that it will still be used. The original box will be kept for downstairs still hooked up alongside Sky. But I now feel it time to show my frustration…with you lot!

There are many reasons for having such forums as this the main one is spreading rumours although I would much prefer to say news and good news at that. But no news is good news and this must be why we see so much bad news on these forums about ITV and how it is going to collapse soon, a few said that in November and it is still trodding along.

Never before have I seen so many complaints about one company, my only problem with ITVD is that the subscription is far to high at £37 and I don’t even have SkyMoviemax, that is the reason behind the move to sky, also the extra music channels.

My picture is fine on every channel in fact i’ll be suprised if it is any better on sky, my Nokia box freezes a bit but that is not ITV problem but the manufacturer who they rely on to provide for them.

Now who posted “Do this now” well be sensible do you really think that when JimmyO in the ITVD cs centre gets a phone call of you they are going to run into the middle of a board meeting with all ITV top dogs present and start shouting this is how we will fix ITVDigital and send Lord Murdoch to hell, then you might be suprised at me saying it won’t happen.

Now my biggest problem is with those who complain saying
“My good god my life can’t continue without Mux1234 working properly and giving the best ouput possible.” Unless you are a technician in this field you probably know jack all so be a bit more creative.

Now I am not going to shy away and say I have never complained about ITV because I know some lifeless so and so will trudge through the anals of Rome to find a post of mine complaining. I have had my aproblems but I have simply e-mailed ITVD and kept someone in their job of responding to such crappy e-mails and have never once not been stisfied with their response.

My final shout is at those who have this wish to see ITVD go down the drain, well I hope the company you work for or the company that puts bread on your table goes bust, because anyone who wishes this upon any one never mind a company that is british based and the only on brave enough to have a go deserves a pat on the back whatever the out come.

Remember they didn’t beat Everest at first attempt.
They didn’t blow bin Laden away on the first wave of attacks.

Just put it into context.

Auvoir for now.

ps Lets hope one day I dumped Sky and return to DTT who ever runs it. I would have much rather stayed with ITVD than go to a company run by the decendent of someone hand picked by her majesties finest courts.

Odd.. “problem”… Virgin Media Broadband

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

I am currently on 20mb virgin broadband.

Every now and then, my speed will drop. For instance, this afternoon, speedtest.net reported my speed as 2mb!! However, a few minutes later, it reports it as 19.5mb.

It’s done this twice today and even though it tells me it’s 2mb, it still goes as fast as it does on 20mb.

Only had the service installed on tueday and using wireless routers. Anyone have an explanation? lol

Odd Broadband pricing last 2 months. Virgin Media Broadband

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

I’m currently on a £17 / month deal until April at which point i was told to call back to renegotiate my price like i have done several times before, but last month i got my bill and was only charged £6.60 something. I got this months bill today and thats about £16.64 so i’m a bit confused….Not gonna complain though until its too high

Anybody else had oddities like this ?? Or is it some price restructuring i’ve not heard about ??

Thanks.

Anyone had an odd letter saying Virgin got their billing wrong? Virgin Media Broadband

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

I’m a VM customer, but just for cable broadband. I had a letter the other day from Customer Services on VM paper but no contact details or anything on it. Just said that during recent work on their billing system they’d discovered that they have undercharged some customers for their TELEPHONE service. I don’t have phone from them! They just went on to say that they would pick up the tab and wouldn’t affect future bills. Anyone had anything like this? Normally you get a phone number to call for any queries but page was blank!

Seems poor that they’ve sent these out to what looks to be the wrong customers. Then again, this is the company who send out e-mails to their customers using the last created alias on their account (in my case my 5 year old daughter’s!) rather than the main account address, and who also use the last created alias for logging into your account or Broadband extras. How can their customer info be so poor?

NTL Broadband – odd problem Virgin Media Broadband

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

I have NTL 2 MB BB connected to PC via ethernet cable- tried to connect this morning – couldnt, did the usual rebooted modem router/PC etc, checked IP and was getting a valid IP Adrress in the 81…. range – lights on front of BB router all OK .. even connected to webpage of the BB cable modem router and all was ok no problems indicated.

Then I thought, I will plug my cable modem into the other network card on my PC and guess what , it worked, got a different IP Address (still in the 81 … range with the last octet being different).

So why would it not work on one IP Address assigned to me but on another.

Odd connection issues! Virgin Media Broadband

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

Hi folks,
Im having a very strange set of connection problems and was wondering if anyone has seen it before.

Last night before I stopped working all was well. This morning I powered up my usual laptop and have no connectivity. My router is flashing its diagnostics light. I first try power cycle on router, same problem.

Next I try power cycling the ntl modem a few times with the laptop connected directly to it (i.e. I have now removed router from the setup) and not via router. Still no connectivity. RDY and SYNC lights solid.

I phone NTL and they see lots slow ping times but can see the modem is allegedly ok although due to diagnostics he is seeing raises engineer call. Asks me to try different cable if I have one. So I do in another spare laptop. This one gets connection!

So I try all my cables in this laptop, they all work – I know its not a cable issue. I then power on one of my servers, no connectivity just like my working laptop! XP says there is no or limited connectivity all the time. I have de-installed and re-installed the drivers on non-working laptop, but this made no difference.

The only difference with the working laptop is its a fresh install of XP and wasnt connected to router when other machines stopped working (although I cant see this being a reason for it to work?).

So Im confused. I know ntl showed some slow ping times to my modem but they could see my working laptop connected. Why is my router, laptop and 2 servers unable to connect directly with the cable modem, yet I have one laptop that works fine?!?! I have changed nothing on any machine or the router since everything was working last night.

Confused and looking for some enlightenment

Rgds and thanks
