How often is OD updated? Virgin Media TV On Demand

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

Do they do it monthly or is it just an as and when kind of thing?

I have watched the first 11 (I think) episodes of The West Wing as I never saw it originally and thought it was fantastic. Im just waiting now to see the rest of the first season.

I would just like to add that I think OD is fantastic and have never had a problem with it. However I would like to offer 2 suggestions to be ignoredMulti speed fast forward like we have for recorded content on V+
The ability to start watching at a certain point by typing in the time, eg. 4:25

If you’ve been affected – how often? Virgin Media Broadband

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

Daily? Couple of times a week? Weekly? Monthly? Once?

Seeing as intheknow doesn’t really care for your internet usage, only in orchestrating a poll giving him the conclusion he wants, I want you all to know that someone cares about your internet use – and give you a voice to tell everyone on this page.

Thank you.

VoD: How often do you watch it? V+ HD

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

For me, I might flick through it when nothing interesting is on the telly, but I wouldn’t use it for regular viewing.

Does their argument of VoD content versus the provision of HD channels really stand up?

On Demand – How Often Is It Updated V+ HD

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

I’ve just finished watching the firs series of Life On Mars which is stored in the TV Choice On Demand section.

OK so I know I missed the boat and should have watched it when it was first transmitted.

I thought it was excellent and now want to watch the second series and was wondering if any one “in the know” may have an idea of how often VM update the content of TV Choice on demand?

I think that there was a gap of about a year between the end of series one and the screening of series 2 I hope that doesn’t mean I have to wait a year before series 2 gets uploaded.

Any Ideas? Anyone?

Thanks

How often should Pace 4000 box be put into standby? Virgin Media TV and Phone

Friday, February 20th, 2009

I returned home last night from a few days away to find that the programs I had set my Toshiba RD-XS32 to record over the weekend had failed, because there had been a ‘loss of service’ in my absence.

I spent 35 mins on the phone to TW trying to establish what had caused this before finally being put through to a ’support manager type’. She eventually said that in my agreement somewhere it states that the Pace 4000 STB should be put into standby overnight in order to pick up updates, and that they were never designed for 24/7 usage as they will eventually accumulate problems and lock-up as mine had.

I periodically work overseas and was relieved to find that the Toshiba successfully changes the STB channel in order to permit timer recordings. Now I am concerned that I cannot rely on this as the Pace box may fail again after 1 week, 2 weeks, a month or whatever. I am a bit disgusted by TW’s attitude that they do not expect customers to have 24-hour access to their products. I thought that was what I was paying for.

A soft reboot every night sounds excessive to me, but I grudglingly acknowledge that the box won’t like being on permanently. Does anyone know what a reasonable schedule for reboots is? Will once a week do?

Thanks,
James

How often does my dynamic IP address change? Virgin Media TV and Phone

Friday, February 20th, 2009

I have Blueyonder broadband and I understand it’s a dynamic IP address. I’ve signed up to a site that restricts access with a passowrd, but also checks that the IP address matches the IP address I initially signed up with.
Given this info, I’m not curious how often my IP address is likely to change. The cable modem is permanently on and connected to a router that shares the connect through the house. I’m assuming its not an exact number of days, etc, but can someone give me a rough idea how often I can expect it to change?

how often does sky update their software compared to ntl? Virgin Media TV and Phone

Friday, February 20th, 2009

the sky news section says they get another software update soon.
ntl? still waiting for the one to fix the “clicks” which must be 2 years now.

you wouldnt buy a car where the service takes 3 years to do anything, so why is ntl allowed to get away with it?

NTL: do update browse quite often! Virgin Media TV and Phone

Friday, February 20th, 2009

While checking out ‘The Box’ the browse function “claimed” that the ‘Big Hits 1st’ was to continue until 11 pm, it said this many times, as I was just looking around. But then a program called ‘Behind Trax’or something like that came on and by 10:03 browse had been updated! I was pretty pleased.
