Current Package – Wanting to Upgrade Service Cable

Sunday, August 9th, 2009

Hi all,

I’ve been with Virgin Media/NTL/Cable and Wireless for about 11 years now and was just looking at my bill. I feel I am paying for an uncompetitive service when compared to their offers for new customers. Therefore, I spoke to a member of the support team who was trying to charge me more money for the services and insisting that the packages and deals were for new customers only. I really do not understand the logic here, where’s the reward for loyalty?

At the present time I’m paying for the following:

Telephone Line Rental – £11.00
Phone, TV & BB Bundle Saving – -£9.50
TV Size : XL – £23.00
Broadband Size: M – £20.00

I don’t even know what speed the M BB is but I don’t think it is that quick. In addition, I don’t have a V+ Box or anything of this nature.

In my opinion this seems expensive for what I’m getting.

Anyone have any advice on what I should do next? Maybe take my business elsewhere or leave and just sign back up?

Regards

Amar

urgent! Khan Fight need to be on xl package? Cable

What package should I go to? Cable

Sunday, August 9th, 2009

From Virgin I currently have.

Telephone line rental £11 p/m
Sports 1, sports 2 £19 p/m
Broadband size L £25 p/m
Tv size XL £22 p/m
V+ box free p/m
Loyalty pack on everything – £20 p/m

Then with the £5 for not paying by direct debit (don’t trust them to take the correct amount!) £5

My total per month is £61 give or take a few pence.

The problem I am having is I look at the Virgin website and if I got rid of one thing, the price goes up on another!

So if I say what I want, any advice on how to save a bit of cash would be very gratefully received.

Keep
I want to keep the sky sports.
Setanta (which I get free at the moment)
And keep my Broadband speed.

Don’t mind losing
Tv size (only really watch channels 1-5 and maybe Sky one on occasion.
And telephone is only here for incoming calls, have free calls on my mobile for all my outgoing calls.

I will phone up customer services eventually, but wouldn’t harm to be clued up before hand, hence the reason for asking here.

Thanks

TiVo and ‘FreeView’ package – £119.99 delivered! Freeview

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

I’ve maxed out on my CC so I can’t take advantage of this unbelievable offer but I figured some of you good people here will be interested.

So basically Dixons are doing the TiVo (the one and only UK version by Thomson) and the rather crappy (IMHO) and refurbished Nokia 9850T for a grand total of £119.99 delivered.

This is a pretty good deal seeing as the TiVo on it’s own is at least £99 elsewhere. The catch is it would appear that Dixons have French Connection UKed up (well it’s blindling obvious from the order page!). And I think we all know that Dixons almost never honour mistakes they make even if the customer genuinely believes they’re the right prices (ie they’re not carpet bagging).

Anyway as direct links to pages on DSG sites don’t work – click on TiVo and follow your nose!

Decent FTA package from BBC? Freeview

Many are specualting this possibility. Like the UK channels etc.

But where’s the funding going to come from?

I can’t see em doing it out of the goodness of their hearts !

So either it’s subsidised in some way, or, more likely we pay somehow.

A dual licence fee perhaps?

Pre-paid Package E Freeview

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

So I decided to scrape my student money together and get a pre-paid plus box with OnNet. Afterall, I can use my store discount and get a £50 chequeback.

After looking through my postcode book, I found I was in channel package E. OK, only a few channels, but at least I can watch different channels to the Sky Digital that is downstairs.

I then read that “Those with this channel package cannot purchase a pre-paid box.” Great. after uming and ahing over whether to get it or not, I can’t. I am now in the frame of mind to absolutlely wanting a digibox in my room.

Apparently, I can subscribe. The customer services lady told me that the cheapest package to get is £22.99. This can’t be true, can it? What is the cheapest I can get a channel package for, surely it is cheaper than £22.99!

All help gratefully apreciated!

Cheers, John
