Skip to part of program in minutes Virgin Media TV On Demand

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

Can anyone tell me if its possible to skip to part of a programme in minutes on catchup tv, we do not have V+ just the standard box, while watching a programme the other night 10mins from the end it froze and we had to start from scratch, both me and the missus could not be arsed to fast forward 45mins at snails pace to get to where we were so gave up. Does anyone know if this is possible?

Dodgy STB Owners, Your Part in It’s Downfall Freeview

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

For anyone who owns one of those dodgy STBs, you are no doubt aware that you played your part in ITV Digital’s downfall. Not entirely, but a significant part none the less.

If these six clubs do go to the wall then on your consciounce be it.

If the Champions League deal goes the same way then you really will be knackered.

as good as it gets part ii Freeview

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

sorry i thought this was obvious.

‘as good as it gets’ is a film starring jack nicholson, this premiered on sky premier some months ago, however i had to watch it on sky digital cos the film was withheld from ondigital due to terrestrial rights.

the showing on this film and others such as ’small soldier’ means work is being done to gain rights not previously obtained by sky for terrestrial tv.

is this due to ondigtal having rights to show paramount and universal films or is sky actually doing some homework since it now has competion from onrequest

something i want to know: (part 3) Freeview

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

this is the third posting ot three, in which i have described the main problems faced with ondigital and which may be the cause of them failing.

The third part is customer services, and technical services, the services themselves, and the agents who take the call. I find these services terrible. I did post a topic on this in this forum titled ‘ignorance’ it got something like 38 replys.
when you ring the numbers for c/s or technical department they are engaged, and you are put on hold for 10mins, then you lose the connection and this costs you at national rate. they only open 8-12, so its not even 24 hrs. When you do get through the agents are very ignorent, and they dont really take any notice of what you had said, this is no way to run such a service, many of their agents dont even know what they are doing half of the time!

So there it all is, the reasons why ondigital are getting things worng, these are the main ones in my opinion, i think there are many more then this! they may come later.

something i want to know (part 2): Freeview

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

this is the second of three postings in which i have displayed reasons for why ondigital are failing.

the ondigital recievers dont work properly, some have to be replaced several times, the picture breaks up frequently anf there are annoying loud clicks whilst watching a program. The boxes auto switch channels, and the bbc channels have faults because of the tect service running. the boxes often reset themselves to factory default, and DTX can also crash them. Some makes of box lack buttons and features, and some have to wait months longer for services than others. Remots lack buttons, and some boxes have no reset button.

Many thanks.

Does the V+ come with an HDMI cable as part of the installation/as standard?… V+ HD

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

…Or do we have to buy one? I have one I use with my upscaling DVD recorder but I hardly ever connect it through HDMI on my TV so I could let my parents (who are getting V+ installed downstairs next Wednesday) borrow it I guess but anyway I was just curious whether you get the HDMI lead/cable included as part of the installation or not, I think such cables are usually seen as optional accessories but if their advertising the box specifically as an HD box, maybe it does come included(?)

I’m just curious, sorry if this has been covered elsewhere and thanks in advance for any replies

Cancel Part of Telewest Package Virgin Media TV and Phone

Friday, February 20th, 2009

Hi everybody,
I have had telewest 12 months come this december, and i had the (3 for £30.00 ) TV, BB, Phone, although this is now costing me 42.50 (due to extras i have).

I have never really been happy with the phone service, and i am concidering going back to BT, as i think this will be cheaper now + you get free caller display (i pay for this at the moment. Telewest phone services used to be good and cheap with the free calls between TW customers, and cheap rates, but i know this has stopped, and i dont think they are competitive now, plus they offer a poor customer service record, (well they have to me during recent problems)

Will i be able to cancel the telephone, package, but still keep the TV & BB as a package together.

I thought at one stage you could not get the cable TV, without taking the phone package along with it, or has this now changed ?.

Has anyone had any experience of this

cheers

Tom
