Hi all,
Just got a new Sony KD-28DX40U on warranty replacement after my Bush 6690D packed up at 2 years 11 months in a 3 year warranty.
Argos said they couldn’t reapir it (didn’t even try) so offered me a replacement IDTV of my choice. Apart from the Parliament issue which may or may not get resolved one day, Sony seemed a better brand going forward.
One thing I liked about the Bush was that it output the viewed channel on a UHF channel of your choice. I then fed this up another aerial link to another room. I can’t seem to see if this is possible with Sony. Anyway know?
It’s not too much of an issue as I bought Sky+ after the lights got turned out on ITV Digital and do the same with that – I just seem to have lost something I may have used. i.e. If two folks wanted to watch digital channels, one could watch Sky downstairs, the other Freeview upstairs etc.
Also, my software is on 1.01 which is a tad old, hopefully I’ll pick up the latest version soon. Unlike most it seems, the version number is not shown in the EPG – you have to search the menus for it and it’s called Loader. There’s another number which says Version Number which says r0.31. Unless I’m missing something obvious?
I’ve also noticed that using the same SCART leads that I had before, the picture is absolutely abysmal from my Sky+ box and then VCR at the bottom of the chain as it only has one SCART connector. I am buying some higher quality SCART leads, but don’t see why the Bush should have a great picture on the AV and the Sony not. The Sky+ is set to RGB, not PAL. Still, the actual IDTV picture from Freeview is definitely an improvement on the Bush – as you’d expect.
Cheers,
Paul
