All the good deals seem to insist on telephone?? Cable

Sunday, August 9th, 2009

Used to have VIP Virgin on a deal (very cheap) and when that came to an end they could offer me very little and it worked out cheaper to have Sky HD, BT phone, and Cable Broadband (not cheaper on the broadband but BT Broadband (and similar BT based services) can only offer me 256k speed as I’m miles from the exchange) so that’s what I went to.

I had Sky HD before anyway for the HD content hence the cheapest option.

My problem now is trees and whether the Sky engineer who is coming soon can restore the signal I lost last week as it’s now unwatchable.

If he cant, I would have to live with Freeview which at the moment I’m having to use but is pretty limited, although I can use the Sky Player through the internet of course, or go back to cable for TV.

The problem is I’m in a contract with BT until March (well they say May as it took them three months to port my number and they are saying the contract started again from then but that’s another story!)

So all I need is Broadband and TV, but all the deals seem to insist on telephone; in fact they keep calling me presumably to try and get me to take TV but as soon as I mention that I have a contract with BT they’re off the phone like a shot.

Are there no deals that anyone knows of that are not advertised for TV and Broadband only with Virgin?

The only one on the website actually seems cheaper WITH a phone line!!

I really dont want two telephone lines, it seems silly.

Anyone know?

Telephone Line/modem port Freeview

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

I havent noticed any threads on this, so I thought I would raise the question….

Is the Modem on the old ON/ITV Digital boxes still working. If not, does anyone know of any plans to put it back in to service for ‘interactive’ television?

Just a thought…..

VM broadband and Telephone down Virgin Media Broadband

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen to them

i have telephone and ‘analogue’ broadband with VM, last night we had a power cut in our street and the neighbouring street which lasted from 7.45 to 9pm, but when i went to get onto internet and/or use the phone after the power was back on, the line was dead and the modem wouldn’t sync (presumably coz of no signal), is it possible that the green box outside was affected by the power cut???

ps…done all usuall stuff i.e phone in master socket etc

phoned VM this morning, the guy i spoke to said that there was no problem in our area, but in my little mind, the two things must be related!!!!! but can’t check anything out until i get home from work

From past experience, ntl’s caller ID support is…. well, random at best.

Does anyone in the BR5 postcode area have caller ID?
