Why are Virgin so slow in adding to its HDVOD selection Virgin Media TV On Demand

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

I can’t remember the last time a new series was added in the high definition VOD section or in the more on demand section.

For a company that is allegedly concentrating on supplying VOD rather thatn linear HD channels, you would think that the library would me updated at least weekly.

Virgin will never catch Sky where HD linear channels are concerned, so why not hit them were it hurts and beef up the HDVOD section.

Sky Channels Returning To Virgin Tv Virgin Media TV On Demand

Skip to part of program in minutes Virgin Media TV On Demand

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

Can anyone tell me if its possible to skip to part of a programme in minutes on catchup tv, we do not have V+ just the standard box, while watching a programme the other night 10mins from the end it froze and we had to start from scratch, both me and the missus could not be arsed to fast forward 45mins at snails pace to get to where we were so gave up. Does anyone know if this is possible?

No VOD due to high demand? Virgin Media TV On Demand

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

Every time I attempt to view any purchased or free VOD at peak times, i.e. weekend evenings and often weekday evenings, I have box appear which informs me that due to heavy demand in my area the programme is unavailable and to try again later. This results in having to watch purchased films either late at night or the next morning! Obviously a ridiculous state of affairs.

I emailed Virgin and explained the situation and have subsequently received a telephone call from a technician. He initially attempted to fob me off by trying to get me to agree to sign-off the fault as I could access VOD during the day!

This I refused and he eventually tested the line and said it had a low/slow capacity and would send an engineer around on Saturday morning to increase the capacity, whatever that is?

Has anybody else experienced this and any idea what they are (hopefully) going to do?

New Bollywood OD service to launch Virgin Media TV On Demand

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

Quote:

Dance duo Signature, who came second in the competition [Britain's Got Talent], have been offered a six-figure to deal to become the faces of Virgin Media.

Suleman Mirza, 29, and Madhu Singh, 34, would front Virgin’s forthcoming “Bollywood on Demand” TV service.

The money would enable the pair to give up their day jobs – Mirza is a trainee lawyer, while Singh works in the Heathrow branch of PC World.

NBC to send on demand TV to Europe Virgin Media TV On Demand

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

According to DS http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/ustv/a94…to-europe.html .

No specific mention of Virgin Media, but it’d be great if it were to be available. Particularly if pre-air meant NBC-pace – a legal alternative to using bittorrent for getting American shows quickly is in everyone’s benefit.

Is it possible to record from TV choice? Virgin Media TV On Demand

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

I’m about to get a TV/phone/broadband package from Virgin and am also considering getting TV choice on demand.

One of the things I’m wondering is whether its possible to record programmes from TV choice, either to DVD or VHS?
