I can’t remember the last time a new series was added in the high definition VOD section or in the more on demand section.
For a company that is allegedly concentrating on supplying VOD rather thatn linear HD channels, you would think that the library would me updated at least weekly.
Virgin will never catch Sky where HD linear channels are concerned, so why not hit them were it hurts and beef up the HDVOD section.
There are so many programmes that the BBC and Channel four could show us in High definition, that they so show us, but why cant we have them in HD in catch up?
Is it just me wishing to much
We dont need any smart answers like ” well its free isnt it” or “better than nothing “, but ……why have
3 news channels ( 1 is perhaps enough)
2 pop music channels (1 is again perhaps enough)
2 shopping channels ( zero is the right amount)
looking at sky digitals choice of free services , why cant we have
1)reality tv
2) tcm (where did it and Boomerang go)?
3) boomerang
4) classic fm tv
5) some of the better ’simplychannels’(nature/nostalga/einstein)
6)channel health
7)some asian channel for our asian friends
Thats seven better uses of the existing full time multiplex useage.
Why doesnt ITV or ITN news channel have any sort of text or interactive services?(red button). The BBC has loads of good stuff, but ITV..Zilch. well..if they do I havent seen any!.
What happened to the debate about E4 on freeview? Some cleaver bod at DS decided that you can’t search on less than three chars at a time!
Why can’t C4/E4 use the advertising revenue to pay for the channel or am I being slow in thinking this is a lot of money.
Surely if they think about doing the same as BBC, where I have heard that they are thinking of showing programmes on BBC Choice (three), first this will get the people and the advertisers interested?
Come on, we all like sport, I myself am partial to the fortunes of Crystal Palace Football Club, but why can it not be part of the Freeview setup? I mean, for crying out loud, there are god-knows how many shopping channels, and no sports!
When ever I try to access BBCi text from any of the BBC channels (except News24) I always get a “This service is currently unavailable due to technical difficulties.” message when I select an item from the blue button menu on the BBCi bar.
Is this a regional thing or a box problem?
I’ve no idea if this question has been posed before (sorry if it has), but given the enormous size of the BBC archive, couldn’t we have a “BBC Gold” digital channel showing all of the great classic shows?. I imagine it would be hugely popular. Or would the owners of UK Gold throw a complete wobbly?.
Bring back Basil Fawlty !!!
Seeing as we have a limited range of channels, and limited space for channels, it seems very odd to me that the UK History has such a narrow remit. Wouldn’t it have been better for everybody if it became more of a generic education/documentary channel?
It would give them a much greater number of potential programmes to plunder from the BBC’s back catalogue, which must make it easier from the point of view of running the channel, and it would give us viewers much better choice.
Any thoughts?
