ITV/Channel 5 Catch up-When will they arrive Virgin Media TV On Demand

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

We keep hearing rumours regarding these 2 channels joining catch up but when are we going to see them.
Last year there was a test for ITV on Cable and we have seen nothing again since.
Anyone who’s in the know about 5 and ITV catch up please let us know what when and where.

Will Virgin really let me leave over £84? Cable

Sunday, August 9th, 2009

I have been with Virgin/Telewest for 11 years now and I’m getting fed up with the dodgy tv box and my BB losing connection about 5-10 times an hour (makes online gaming fun).
I currently pay £57 per month for
XL BB
XL TV
M phone

I had a look at what new customers get according to VM website and I could get
XL BB
XL TV
M phone
V+ box
Free router for £50 per month (£50 cashback for signing up online)

Bearing in mind I have the £20 loyalty bonus so I should be paying £77!

I have tried to get this deal by ringing up some woman in some dodgy call centre who told me that even if I cancel I would never be considered as a new customer as they have my details.
I’m not asking for much, I’m just trying to cut down my outgoings. Is there any chance I could get this deal or am I destined to become a sky customer?
How long would I actually have to leave Virgin for before I am elligable (sp) to become a new customer?

Thanks in advance.

How much will my services be… Cable

Sunday, August 9th, 2009

Hi everyone. I am currently on the following plan.

XL Phone: £11.00
M Television: FREE
XL Broadband: £25

Now exluding installation I would like to upgrade to..

XL Phone: £11.00
XL Television: ??
XL Broadband: £25
V+ Box: ??
Extra V Box: ??
Extra V Box:??
Possibly an extra V+ box:??

Now the site doesn’t make sence really how much extra boxes will be and the upgrade wizard doesn’t appear to say prices.

I know I have alot of boxes listed, this IS possible as I contacted Niel Berkett (Spelling?) and was told high up, they’ll give us an exception.

Cheers.

Free Sentanta for XL customers – will it end? Cable

Sunday, August 9th, 2009

As Sentanta are now struggling, do you think that they will be renegotiating with VM as to whether XL customers should still be getting their channels for free?
Possibly offering XL customers the opportunity of getting it for £4.99 or a ballpark figure around that.

Will my unused V+ box work somewhere else? Cable

Sunday, August 9th, 2009

Hello everybody and sorry in advance for this noddy question.

I have a V+ box ex of the Manchester ex-NTL network that is no longer in use. VM are showing no interest in collecting it.

My mum is a VM susbscriber on the ex-telewest network in Liverpool with an old Pace box.

Can I plug my V+ box in round there to get the recording functionality (but obviously not the HD channels)? Or are the units tied to an individual subscriber.

Failing that… is there anything useful I can do this with V+ box.

Will VM get Zone Romantica? Cable

Just wondering if anyone is aware of Virgin Media getting the rest of the Zone channels, such as Zone Romantica?

Will Freeview make TV worse? Freeview

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

Freeview is designed to be the replacement of ATT, providing “up to 30” non-subscription TV channels. With Freeview in every home this will mean that the money that ITV/C4/C5 currently get in advertising will be further diluted. I doubt advertising departments of large corporations will be increasing their budgets just because there are more TV channels available, especially as the total number of people watching TT at any one time is unlikely to increase. With less money available the TV companies are going to have to cut their new program budgets. Subscription services will be safe, as will the BBC, as they will continue to have a guaranteed income (I doubt many people that have anything more than the basic packages will switch to Freeview). But ITV and C4 are bound to have a reduced budget resulting in a worse service overall, in my opinion.
