Hi,
Virgin called me yesterday and tried to get me to take a free box as I have Phone and Broadband with them. I agreed and they are sending it out by courier (as I used to have TV with them and have all the cabling already).
I am only taking it as a backup to my Sky as its free. However I am just curious as to what VOD is free with Virgins free Tv service. Is BBC Iplayer free?
Do you think it is worth paying the extra £7 for the catalogue of OnDemand stuff, is there good stuff on there, and does it change much?
Thanks,
Andy

Jut had V+ XL Package installed this morning and went to view an old episode of Trigger Happy but all I got was a blank screen and very jittery sound and then I wasnt able to exit and had to push reset.
Anyone else had this problem or is the box still settling down? The engineer said things would be a bit slow when it is first installed.

We’ve only been with Virgin Media tv for a few days so I’m still trying to get to grips with it all, but there’s a problem with the On Demand service.
Firstly its a Samsung NTL (yes I know…) box – the SMT 2110C model. A green light is now permanently blinking on the front of the box and when pressing On Demand on the Virgin media (yes I know…) remote it won’t work.
Now the box came with no instructions for errors etc so I went into the technical section under Settings.
Under that, there are a collection of error messages:
(176) Tftp Put fail: network not ready
(!63) Failed to range
(176) Tftp Put fail: network not ready
(161) Cant get Downstream lock
(176) Tftp Put fail: network not ready
(89) CAK Callbak connection failure.
All the tv channels work fine (Setanta Sports is a bit glitchy) and we’re in Colchester, Essex.
Is this a fault on our end or theirs? I can see any service issues on the website!

Virgin Media has partnered with Disney for its first advertising video-on-demand content deal.
The cross-media deal with Disney Destinations International, the theme park and holiday arm of Disney, is the first commercial initiative on Virgin Media’s on-demand Showcase section.
Showcase is a dedicated on-demand, ad-funded service available to Virgin Media’s 3.3 million cable TV customers in the UK.
Disney Travel On Demand is a series of short-form programmes, featuring Walt Disney World, Florida. The ten-minute programmes will feature titles such as Making the Magic and Fact or Fiction, with content refreshed regularly.
The channel launches next week and will be backed by a heavyweight presence on the Virgin Media web portal, including a dedicated space within the travel section.

Hey,
Is it possible to get in touch with the Virgin VOD team to report an error in the VOD section?
The problem is the wrong programme plays when I select the one I want. It is obviously just down to human error – a tech has mislabled a file, or linked it wrongly…
The call centre in India have no clue and just take me through a list of stupid fault questions that have no relevance to my enquiry.
The last guy I spoke to just blatently lied and said, “Yes, we are aware of the error with this programme”, without even asking me what the programme was!
I went through this with them last year and just gave up after wasting an hour of my time.
You would have thought they would want to know when the wrong programme is playing out! Surely they could get in trouble because of rights issues?
Any contact details would be appreciated.

My partner has Virgin Media installed in her flat that was in her ex partners name. About 12 weeks ago they wanted to swap it over to her name. Her ex rang up Virgin told them and got the relevant forms sent out. This took about 2-3 weeks.
My partner filled her part out and sent in the id requested. This was about 8 weeks back. So far the only letter she has had is a letter confirming her bank details for the direct debit. She rang up Virgin only to be told they had not got the paperwork from her yet yet they have her bank details which was on the same letter
When she calls them she is being told she has to wait a certain amount of time for the new data to be put on the system. Firstly she got told 72 hours and when she rang back she got told 21 days. This has now also elapsed.
Recently she had a bill still in her ex’s name but my partners bank details. She also requested paper free bills but still getting them through the post.
Any advice?

hi we have been having a few problems with virgin over the past couple of months. It started when i moved out of my parents house and wanted to take the VM service with me as my mum no longer needed the BB or TV, so we ring virgin up they adv that we can do this and arrange a date, a couple of days before the move we get a letter with the details which say we have to take a new 12month contract, this was never mentioned in the call we made when we arranged it all.
another call to virgin confirms that yes it is a new 12month contract so because the contract would run out in june we decide not to go ahead with the switch they confirm that everything is ok and the service would be back on in my mums within 48hours(they had already switched it off as the moving date had to be changed due to the snow) things came back on the next day so i then sign up to vm myself(yes i know its a 12month contract but i got the deal i wanted as my mums was the xl phone which i had no use of so that was the main reason fo the change of mind also didn’t feel it was fair to add another 12month contract see as we still want to pay them each month they said we move you for free so you should happy with that. anyway back on track, the next bill my mum got was for £70(not the £22 it should be) so i ring vm for her who say sorry when it was put back on the person didn’t add the discount back on(it was a 12m loyalty disc from last june)
so they put it back on and amended the DD to what it should be. we think thats the end of it, roll on this month and the bill comes through for £90 £30 from last month and £70 charges for the service and a late payment fee also. so we call vm who say no they bill is correct you have no disc as you cancelled you service when you moved so we point out we never moved but because they switched the service off(a good few days before the switch was due) that means we cant have the same deal as before and if we want a new deal we need to sign again for 12months. spoke to a manager who wouldn’t do anything but put us on the lowest price £29 and give us £30 off the bill. now do we have anything we can do to be put back on the same price as before as this all seems to be a big joke from VM not happy atall with them after this. now add this to the fact that sky still wont stop billing me after 15months and that really does not leave me with much faith in paytv now lol.
any advice would be great, thanks
